Let me start by saying thank you for visiting my web site. My name is James D. King of “King’s Custom Cue Repair” and I welcome you.         

     I always had a passion for playing pool.  I would go to my mentor Bill White’s pool hall and watch the veteran players play pool. One day, Bill White introduced me to Ray Baker and Tim Scruggs, who are well known in the billiard community.

     I went to my good friend Tim Scruggs and asked him if he would teach me the art of cue making. Tim looked at me and said, " James if you’re serious I will guide you in the direction on how to get started." So I then went to Ray Baker who is a pool cue repairman and pool table mechanic. For almost to two years I apprentice under Ray Baker. Then, I went back to Tim Scruggs to get the knowledge on equipment and tools of the trade. After my apprenticeship with Ray and Tim I started my own company, “Kings Custom Cue Repair”.  I met another great person through Tim and Ray by the name of Chris Hightower, who also helped me through my quest for knowledge with the machinery and educational tools that I would need.

     In 2006, I received my membership with “International Cuemakers Association's” which is a very big deal for me. My life long friend Stephen C. Clifford, was interested in cue making. He saw that I needed help, so I took him under my wing as my apprentice. Now he is the operation manager for “King’s Custom Cue Repair”. We currently service Fast Eddie's Sports and Billiard and Hard Times Café and Cue Club. We also service APA and TAP and WPA pool leagues in the local area.

     I worked hard and sacrificed a lot over the years to get where I’m at. I hope that my work will show the passion I have in the cue making business.
